The officials were expected to discuss topics including ways of reducing disparities between regions and among countries which are members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

"These differences are very large and clearly exchanging experiences, cooperation is very much needed here," Kwieciński, who is Poland’s investment and development minister, told public broadcaster Polish Radio.

The OECD is a group of 36 countries that aims to stimulate economic progress and world trade.

The organisation holds a summit of ministers responsible for regional development every five years.

Kwieciński and Greek Deputy Prime Minister Yannis Dragasakis on Tuesday discussed strengthening business ties between their countries during a meeting in Athens, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
