US state secretary in Poland: Russia aims to increase domination

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned during a visit to Poland on Wednesday that Russia planned to increase its domination on the international arena.

Pompeo said that Moscow’s attempts to cause destabilisation should be met with strong opposition.
He referred to Moscow’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and Russia’s seizure of three Ukrainian navy ships in the Kerch Strait last November, an incident that escalated tensions between Kiev and Moscow.
Pompeo arrived in Poland on Tuesday ahead of an international conference in Warsaw on the Middle East.
US Vice President Mike Pence arrived in the Polish capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The international conference on the Middle East organised jointly by Poland and the United States takes place on Wednesday and Thursday.
