A Polish start-up that creates algorithms for quantum computers is entering the American market, state news agency PAP has reported.

Bohr Technology, which was set up last year, is also starting a team-up with the main players on the Canadian market, according to the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

The government-run investment agency added that it was supporting Bohr Technology in an expansion drive.

Witold Kowalczyk, the founder and head of Bohr Technology, said: "Quantum computers are a new kind of machine based on a new paradigm -- quantum phenomena. Thanks to this they can provide much more computing power than traditional computers.”

Kowalczyk added that quantum computer technology can be used in fields including artificial intelligence, medicine, and the energy and finance sectors.
