Piotr Naimski's statement came after the Polish Supreme Audit Office earlier in the day released a previously classified report into gas transit negotiations.

According to the report released on Monday, the former Economy Minister did not negotiate the best deal for Poland on the Yamal pipeline which transits Russian gas through Belarus and Poland to Germany.

Naimski said the previous government “aimed to extend the Yamal pipeline contract by 15 years to 2037” adding that “if it had happened, our plan to diversify supplies would not have been achieved,” according to niezalezna.pl.

Niezalezna.pl said that the European Commission interrupted that plan.

Naimski also accused the previous government of “serious omissions,” niezalezna.pl reported. (vb)
