The meeting in Brussels came ahead of a NATO summit planned for July 11-12 and followed hostile Russian actions toward NATO allies, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

The ministers meeting in Brussels were also expected to talk about NATO’s enlargement policy and its cooperation with partner countries, especially the Western Balkans and those in the alliance’s “eastern neighbourhood,” the Polish foreign ministry said on its website.

The Brussels meeting was also expected to focus on NATO’s cooperation with the European Union in strengthening security, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Poland’s Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz was scheduled to confer with the British foreign secretary in the company of top diplomats from Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic together form a regional cooperation platform known as the Visegrad Group.
