EU migration and home affairs chief Dimitris Avramopoulos is one of ten Greek politicians named by prosecutors in an inquiry involving Swiss drug-maker Novartis, according to reports.

The Greek parliament earlier this week revealed the results of a probe into alleged bribes that Novartis is suspected of handing to officials in order to increase sales prices of drugs, according to reports.

The allegations cover a period between 2006 and 2015, including a stretch when Avramopoulos was Greece's health minister, the BBC reported on its website.

Avramopoulos, now the EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, has condemned what he described as unsubstantiated allegations against him.

"It is now clear that it is an unprecedented plot which cannot stand in any member state of the European Union. Only sick minds could have invented and attempted it," the BBC cited Avramopoulos as saying.
