Poland’s new Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak will on Wednesday hold a meeting in Washington with General Herbert Raymond McMaster, US President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor.

The meeting had previously been planned by Poland’s former Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz.
Macierewicz lost his job in a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle last week, just over halfway through the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) government’s term in office.
Macierewicz, a powerful figure in the ruling PiS party, was replaced as defence minister by Błaszczak, up to then Poland’s interior minister.
On Monday, Błaszczak was due to hold a meeting in Brussels with General Curtis Scaparrotti, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, and with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
