Poland has about 270 troops serving in Kosovo as peacekeepers in the NATO-led Kosovo Force.

Macierewicz said Poland was aware that Albania was key to stability in the Balkans and to stopping "a wave of terrorism".

Albanian Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka thanked Poland for supporting Kosovo’s independence, adding that Poland's armed forces were contributing to the stability of the whole region. (vb/pk)
