Polish president heading for UN General Assembly

He will be among scores of heads of state, prime ministers and foreign ministers arriving in the Big Apple from 190 countries for the six-day summit.

Duda is scheduled to take part in the opening of the debate on Tuesday, which will see speeches by US President Donald Trump and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In addition to taking the floor at Tuesday’s afternoon session, the Polish president is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with several national leaders at the UN headquarters.

Duda’s three-day visit to the United States will include a meeting with academics at the Kościuszko Foundation and a get-together with Polish Americans.

The trip will close with a visit to the famous West Point military academy, where President Duda will lay a wreath at a monument to Polish and American freedom hero Tadeusz Kościuszko and deliver a lecture to US cadets on Wednesday. (aba/gs/pk)
