The forum, to be attended by both Duda and Nazarbayev, is being held as the Kazakh capital Astana hosts the international Expo 2017 fair, which opened on 10 June and runs until 10 September.
According to officials from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), the Polish-Kazakh Economic Forum is a major event that involves about 240 companies from both countries.
More than 100 countries and international organisations are taking part in Expo 2017, which focuses on future energy sources.
More than 45,000 people had visited the Polish pavilion at the Expo 2017 fair by the end of June, officials have said.
About 200 Polish companies are already operating in Kazakhstan, according to the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko.
Polish investment in Kazakhstan totals USD 200 million since 1991.
Astana is interested in further investment by Polish businesses, especially in agriculture, according to Maksat Kabashev, CEO of the state-run Kazakh Invest company, which is tasked with attracting foreign investment to the country.
Experts say Polish businesses could also invest in sectors such as energy, machinery, infrastructure and logistics in Kazakhstan.
Return visit
President Duda’s trip to Kazakhstan is a return visit after Nazarbayev visited Poland in August last year, according to the Polish president’s foreign policy adviser Krzysztof Szczerski.
Polish-Kazakh trade has increased by 90 percent since Nazarbayev's visit, according to Szczerski.
While in Kazakhstan, Duda was expected to talk with Nazarbayev about issues such as global security and Poland's non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
On Thursday, Duda is due to host a Polish National Day at the Expo exhibition.
The Polish president is being accompanied to Astana by his wife and officials including Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk, Environment Minister Jan Szyszko and Agriculture Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel. (gs/pk)
