Security Service of Ukraine chief Vasyl Hrytsak addressed his Russian counterpart saying he “crossed the red line”, Hromadske Radio reported, citing an interview for Ukrainian private broadcaster Pryamiy Kanal.

“You were ready to blow up your own, Russian citizens in order to destabilise the situation in Russia and give grounds for invading Ukraine, to launch a full-scale campaign,” Hrytsak said, according to Hromadske Radio.

“Both you and I know that the special services are involved in the organization of terrorist attacks in Ukraine. Dozens of people died, many people were wounded … and you can stop all this. Stop,” Hrytsak added, Hromadske Radio said.

The Russian-Ukrainian conflict started after Moscow's 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

Unrest in eastern Ukraine and destabilization in the region led to NATO bolstering its eastern flank with multinational battalion groups sent to Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Meanwhile, Russia is planning to start joint war games with Belarus in a few weeks and Poland is concerned that Russian troops could remain in Belarus after the military exercises are over. (vb/pk)
