“President Ilham Aliyev’s visit was also a chance to discuss bilateral political relations, to solidify Poland’s role as Azerbaijan’s key partner in the European Union and to confirm Azerbaijan’s role as an important Polish ally in the south-Caucasus region,” the prime minister's chancellery said in a statement.

Aliyev on Wednesday invited Szydło to visit Baku.

Aliyev arrived in Poland on Tuesday, when he met with Polish President Andrzej Duda. The two heads of states signed bilateral deals to partner on security, energy, transport and infrastructure.

The presidents also attended a Polish-Azerbaijani business forum. (vb)
