Krzysztof Szczerski, a senior adviser to Polish President Andrzej Duda, is on a visit to the US, where he met Trump’s National Security Adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, for over an hour in the early hours of Friday morning, Polish time.

Szczerski invited Trump to visit Poland in July on behalf of Duda.

"The invitation was accepted and now we will wait for the response of President Trump as to his calendar," said Szczerski.

According to Szczerski, Gen. Flynn told him that the presence of US troops in Poland will be a stable element of Polish-American relations and that NATO is the foundation of "security architecture" for the US.

"There are no plans to review the decisions of the NATO summit in Warsaw, the US presence [in Poland] will be developed further, because soon new units under the NATO flag will arrive, and will be carried out according to plan," said Szczerski.

One of the decisions of the NATO summit in Warsaw was to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. (mol/pk)
