Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło and her British counterpart Theresa May talked about security, defence and trade, as Poland and the UK held their first “intergovernmental consultations”.
Szydło said: “I deeply believe that we will deepen our relations in the coming months and years,” adding: “The United Kingdom is a strategic partner for Poland regardless whether [the UK] is or is no longer in the European Union.”
May said the UK’s exit from the EU “will not weaken our relationship with Poland, rather it will serve as a catalyst to strengthen it.”
Szydło said further talks would continue in Poland next year. (vb/pk)
