America will remain an important ally for Poland, no matter who is elected US president, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło said on Tuesday.

As Americans headed to the polls to choose between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, Szydło told reporters in Warsaw: "Who will be president of the United States - we will see. It's Americans who will choose."
She added: "For Poland, America is an important ally, and no matter who becomes president it will certainly remain such an ally."
