More Putin adviser emails leaked: report

The emails shed light on Kremlin plans regarding Ukraine, niezalezna.pl said.

The website reported that Ukrainian hacker group CyberHunta had gained access to the mailbox of Putin aide Vladislav Surkov.

The hackers announced they had access to documents which show, among other things, that Russia wants to organize protests on Kiev’s Independence Square in the second half of November, niezalezna.pl reported.

The Kremlin has said that the leaked documents are fake.

But niezalezna.pl cited Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian interior minister, as saying: “It’s true that Surkov’s email was broken into. Documents released by the hackers are authentic.”

Analysis of the new emails by Washington think-tank Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab found details of cooperation between Surkov and separatist leaders in Donetsk, particularly with Denis Pushilin, niezalezna.pl reported.

niezalezna.pl cited the medium.com website as saying that there is also correspondence confirming plans for Donbas and reports on the progress of potential bills under consideration in Ukraine. There are also documents confirming Russian plans for the annexation of Crimea, niezalezna.pl added.

After analysing the second batch of emails, the Digital Forensic Research Lab has confirmed the documents are authentic, niezalezna.pl said.
