The countries will be represented by Foreign Ministers Witold Waszczykowski and Bert Koenders.

On Monday they will inaugurate the 26th Utrecht Conference, a forum at which Polish and Dutch experts discuss current European cooperation challenges.

"Security, in particular issues relating to the implementation of decisions taken at Warsaw NATO Summit will also feature prominently in the debate’s agenda," the spokesman of the Polish ministry told the PAP news agency.

He said that consultations held in the framework of the 26th Utrecht Conference will in turn cover matters of the Single Market, the Economic and Monetary Union, energy and climate, the EU’s external relations and social policy. The debate is to be attended by experts from Polish and Dutch ministries of foreign affairs, economy, environment, and of labour and social policy.

The aim of the Utrecht Conference, inaugurated in 1999 by Ministers Bronisław Geremek and Jozias van Aartsen, was to support Poland’s preparations for EU membership.

Now it is a forum for exchanging views between Poland and the Netherlands on European issues. (rg)
