Polish President Andrzej Duda has written official letters to UK church leaders asking them to appeal to Britons to respect the rights of Poles living in the UK.

The letters were sent in connection with recent attacks on Poles living in the UK.

Duda also voiced support for Monday’s visit by the Polish foreign and interior ministers to the UK to talk to their British counterparts about the situation of the Polish community in Britain.

The visit by the two ministers to London shows that "the issue of security and peaceful life of Poles in Great Britain is important to the Polish authorities," Duda said on Tuesday.

His comments follow a recent string of brutal beatings of Poles in Britain, which led to the death of one man last week. (mol/pk)
