Polish PM Szydło in talks with Romanian counterpart Ciolos

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło has met with her Romanian counterpart Dacian Ciolos, discussing the future of the EU after Brexit and potential reforms of the bloc.

"Our goal is to strenghten the EU," Szydło said at a joint press conference on Saturday, following the talks.

The Polish PM added that “the role of EU institutions should be redefined, in particular, that of the European Commision”.

Discussing a potential revision of the existing EU treaties, Szydło said that "Poland and Romania wish to play an active role in this debate. We would like to outline our proposals."

The officials also discussed preparations for an upcoming informal summit of the EU in Bratislava.

During a one-day visit to Romania, PM Szydło also visited a local monastery and met members of the Polish community.(ał/di)
