“Agents of the National Police have carried out the arrest of nine members of an international criminal organisation led by a Polish billionaire and former soldier,” Spanish police wrote in a statement.

The leader was acting as diplomatic representative of Guinea Bissau and carried a passport from that country. He also had a plaque to this effect installed outside his Ibiza home, intimating local police with his alleged diplomatic immunity, police said.

The Pole had a business network with which he allegedly engaged in arms trafficking, as well as a vast network of international contacts.

He allegedly even used the presidential plane of Gambia to sell weapons and sell military equipment to South Sudan, a country in permanent conflict.

The Polish man was living in signifiant luxury, police said, having turned his mansion into a fortress and possessing a fleet of supercars including Lamborghinis and Ferraris. (rg)
