Visegrad Four summit in Warsaw

A summit of the Visegrad Group started in Warsaw on Thursday, with the leaders of its four member countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – set to discuss the future of the European Union.

Polish European Affairs minister Konrad Szymański said Poland’s PM Beata Szydło, the Czech Republic’s Bohuslav Sobotka, Slovakia’s Robert Fico and Hungary’s Viktor Orban would start a discussion in Warsaw before an informal EU summit in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava in September.
The upcoming EU summit will discuss the reasons for and aftermath of the UK voting to leave the EU, according to Szymański.
"We would like Poland and the countries of the region to play an active part in this discussion," Szymański said.
Poland took over the rotating presidency of the Visegrad Group on 1 July. (mol/pk)
