Foreign Ministry calls for cooperation with Montenegro

At an economic forum in Podgorica, the deputy head of the foreign ministry responsible for economic diplomacy was accompanied by Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna during a visit to Montenegro.

The two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of economic diplomacy on Wednesday. The agreement "aims to identify opportunities for closer cooperation between institutions, administrations, but also action that will enable better contact between companies," Kacperczyk said.

The most attractive sectors for Polish industries in Montenegro are agriculture and energy, the deputy minister said. “Poland can share green technologies with Montenegro, which is currently implementing a strategy for renewable energy development,” she said.

"We want to cooperate with partners from Montenegro, but also to share renewable energy technologies at our disposal," Kacperczyk said.

GreenEvo is a project developed by the Ministry of the Environment aimed at the global promotion of Polish technical ideas in innovative environmental technologies. The aim of the programme is to provide Polish technology to foreign markets.

According to the Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce, trade between Poland and Montenegro amounted to EUR 24 million in 2014, and this year is already 20 percent higher. Since 2007 Poland has invested EUR 52 million in Montenegro. (jh)
