President Komorowski said at a press conference that the end of his term as president will not end his involvement in the affairs of Ukraine.
“Regardless of politics, Poland will also be involved in supporting the uneasy process of internal reform in Ukraine. I hope that in all these processes, there will also be space for the involvement of a former president [of Poland],” Komorowski told a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko in Lviv.
He explained that in Poland there is a “tradition” that former presidents set up institutes. “This was done by Lech Wałęsa and Aleksander Kwaśniewski. An institute will now be set up by President Komorowski.”
“I'm sure That Polish-Ukranian relations will take pride of place in the framework of activities of the Bronisław Komorowski Institute,” the Polish head of state said.
Bronisław Komorowski ends his term on 6 August, and will be replaced by Andrzej Duda. (rg)
