The tank destroyer will become part of the Armoured Warfare Museum in Poznań following a complete restoration will will also make it fully operational.

“The Belgian side’s gesture is significant bacause currently there are not many such vehicles left in the world. Polish museums have never had any renovated Achilles in their collections so far,” wrote the Polish Foreign Ministry in a statement.

The Achilles is a British version of the M10 tank destroyer used by the US. It was first introduced in 1943. It is estimated that 1,100 of the 30-tonne units were built.

Minister Vandeput made the presentation on a visit of Poland’s Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak to Brussels. (rg)
