Economy Minister leads trade mission to Baku

Janusz Piechociński, Poland’s deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister is in the Azerbaijani capital to discuss energy security and other bilateral issues.

“Azerbaijan and Poland are the economic leaders in their [respective] regions and play a key role in maintaining stability and ensuring their development,” Piechociński said during a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and local Energy Minister Natig Aliyev.

During the three-day visit, the Polish delegation will take part in an international conference on oil and gas energy. Poland has also set up a stand at an international business fair in the capital Baku.

The Polish Economy Minister will meet his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev, as well as Energy Minister Natig Aliyev on Tuesday.

Piechociński pointed out that Azerbaijan is a promising market for Poland due to its rapid growth. “It's a place where we could sell Polish goods, such as food. Besides, we will increase the opportunities exchanges of scientific and technical cooperation between our two countries, as well as increasing the number of students from that country to Polish universities.
