The scope of the investigations includes not only American companies in Poland, but also Polish businesses operating in the US, writes the Puls Biznesu daily.

The newspaper gives examples of cases handled by the FBI in Poland.

Among these is the continuing investigation into the 2012 bribe case which affected Hewlett Packard and IBM in the country.

The Polish arm of the agency operates from the US embassy in Warsaw.

Puls Biznesu reports that the highest ranking agent, identified as Monika Wasiewicz, had to resign her Polish citizenship to work at the agency.

Wasiewicz said that the department is still expanding, with a new agent recently joining the Polish ranks.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation have a cooperation agreement with other Polish intelligence services. (rg)
