Polish woman in German court on terrorism charges

A 25-year-old woman with joint Polish-German citizenship goes on trial with two other women on Wednesday in Dusseldorf, on charges of supporting terrorism.

Karolina R. (full name withheld under German law) has spent much of her life in Germany and some years ago she converted to Islam.

She married a member of the Jihadist organisation the Islamic State.

According to the prosecution, she supplied Jihadists with over EUR 10,000.

She has likewise been accused of providing video equipment for making propaganda films.

Karolina R. has already been in custody for several months, and she could serve up to ten years in prison if found guilty.

As of yet she has not responded to any accusations against her. (nh)
