Krzysztof K. apparently fled Poland in 2001, after allegedly threatening to burn down a bar, carrying out a robbery at knife-point and an incident that involved grievous bodily harm.
He was first picked up in Ireland in April 2008, under the terms of a European Arrest Warrant.
However, the fugitive was granted bail and he disappeared for a second time.
The latest arrest was made just before 8 am on Thursday morning, according to Detective Sergeant Martin O'Neill.
According to Irish police (gardai), Krzysztof K. had assumed a new identity.
The 36-year-old is now being held in custody, awaiting extradition back to Poland. (nh)
